Remember that kid in your 5th grade class that seemed to never pay attention or stay focused? He would look at the teacher with glazed eyes because his mind was preoccupied with becoming a giant just to see how deep he could walk into the ocean. He knew how many elephants he could stack on top of his desk before it came crashing through the floor squishing the bully kid below. Well, that kid was me and still is 33 years later. I'm able to focus better now, but I still have my imagination and view everything as a cartoon or a design and that's why I'm an artist.
I attended Ricks College (now BYU Idaho) where I received an Associate of Arts degree before attending the University of Montana where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I worked for several years as a juvenile detention counselor in Utah and soon ran a group home for troubled teens. I then moved to San Diego where I continued counseling young adults, but I really wanted to pursue an art career, so I went back to school for a graphic art degree. I graduated from Platt College Graphic Art School and went to work for various gaming companies in San Diego as an artist and animator.
My family and I have since moved to Kansas City where I'm an artist for Hallmark Cards. I continue my busy freelance business designing and illustrating children's books and puzzles and, just to stay sane, I keep up with my personal projects that guarantee a butt-crack somewhere in the picture because my passion is humor and cartoons. My unique style also guarantees a ton of detail.
Take a look at my portfolio and feel free to contact me if you have a project in mind and need a cartoon or illustration to bring to life. I'm able to turn any situation into a detailed and humorous (or not) picture. Send me a photo of Uncle Biff and Aunt Myrtle and I'll recreate the day they forgot the house keys and Biff lost his pants crawling in the window just as the cops showed up.
Everyone has a story. Let me illustrate yours.
